COMEDIANS SHOULDN'T USE CHRISTIAN SONGS IN THEIR JOKES

The song, Opelope Anointing, will surely rank as one of the most popular Nigerian gospel songs of all time. The artiste behind the gospel hit, Dunni Olanrewaju , has admitted that she is still reaping the rewards of the song which was recorded in a day. In a chat with Sunday Scoop , she said , “There is no doubt that Opelope Anointing is my biggest song till date . Seventeen years after , the song still opens doors for me . I still enjoy a lot of benefits from that song because if God opens one door for you, that door will definitely lead to other doors. ” Olanrewaju also bared her mind on secular artistes and comedians performing in church . She said , “You cannot compare secular artistes to gospel singers . Anytime you are in church, you have to do everything in the spirit . I don’ t like the way comedians use the word of God and Christian songs as the basis of their jokes . They distort a lot of these things and it is not good ; that is why I don’t support comedians coming to the pulpit . They see everything as a joke , and the ministry is more than that . Besides, many secular artistes cannot control themselves when they are in church as they often use some of their worldly slangs on the altar . But if they can caution themselves , there is nothing bad in them performing in church .” On gospel artistes charging fees before performing in churches, she said , “I charge fees before performing in churches and I don’t blame people who do that . After your ministration, there is no way you can get money to sponsor your organisation and other things you need to do . People will just use you and dump you. Gospel artistes have children that they have to send to school and other responsibilities as human beings, so if they don’t charge fees , how are they supposed to get money to do all these ? If you don’t charge them , churches will just tell you ‘God bless you’ after your ministration and that is all. In other countries , pastors will even offer to pay you without you asking but Nigerian pastors will never do that .” The gospel singer who has over 20 music albums in her kitty also hinted that she is working on her new album at the moment, as well as a concert that will coincide with Easter celebration.
