Emerging reports claim that
President Muhammadu Buhari
could not make it to the first Jumat
service which is holding after his
return from a prolonged vacation
in the United Kingdom.
The Sun reports that Buhari was
absent at Friday’s Jumat service held
inside the mosque located beside his
office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari had, since inception of his
administration, stopped worshiping
at the National Mosque, Abuja,
except for special occasions like Eid
celebrations
raises fear he might return abroad
for further checks soon
He had said it was to spare Abuja
residents the difficulty they always
face as a result of roadblocks
associated with presidential
movements.
Buhari had retired to his official
residence after meeting some
government officials including
ministers and security heads at the
First Lady Conference Hall.
Those that observed the Jumaat
service in the Presidential Villa were,
the Minister of Information and
Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the
Chief of Staff to the President, Abba
Kyari, his ADC, Chief Security Officer,
and other presidential aides who are
Muslims.
Although no reason was given for his
absence at the service, it is believed
that he should be taking his rest
after six-hour flight from London.
Buhari had said earlier today that he
is a little bit tired even as he gave
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo the go
ahead to continue as acting
president, The Sun reports.
According to the report, Buhari made
the remark while addressing
members of the Federal Executive
Council (FEC), all heads of security
agencies and the governors Kogi,
Yahaya Bello and Zamfara, Abdulaziz
Yari, in a closed door meeting shortly
after his arrival to the country.
